Summer Chic For Your Home

Bring your home bang up to date for the summer months by chucking out your clutter and making your rooms light, bright and airy.  We have searched the internet for our top 5 tips for adding some summer cool to your rooms.

neon-planters

1. Bring the outside in

Add some colour and texture to your rooms by using the finest flora and fauna you can find in your own garden.  Pick fresh flowers and arrange every other day.  Fresh flowers add a real lift to any room and smell divine.  Alternatively, why not add some hanging baskets and bowls inside your house.  Bowls and planters set in crochet hanging bags add a touch of boho chic to your room.

2. Feel the breeze

Think exotic hotels with soft white drapes blowing in the breeze of an open window.  How lovely.  If you want to feel like you are somewhere more glamorous than just stuck at home, add some cheap and cheerful toile panels to your curtain rails and open your windows to let the breeze in.  Thick drapes can keep your room cool if the sun is shining directly in, but the soft, floating feel of thin material is much more appealing in the warmer weather.

3.  Add some summer fresh bedding

Think hotel chic as you relax in pure white, high thread-count bedlinen. Or, save yourself a few pounds and opt for a slightly less expensive but equally cool looking plain white bedset.  Again, think summer holidays abroad in luxury beach hotels.  OK, so the weather here doesn’t quite warrant a ceiling fan and mosquito nets, but a new white cover for your duvet can make your room feel fresh and cool.  Add some plain white lace cushions or a throw for an even more luxurious feel, or break up the white with some brightly coloured florals.  Tuck away your cosy throws until October.

summer table4. Eat fresh and funky

Fill your fridge with fresh fruit and salad vegetables.  Treat you and yours to delicious burgers, sausages and other Bar-B-Q foods to get that real feeling of the British summertime.  If it rains, which it might well do, just cook up a feast inside instead.  Add some summer fun to all your mealtimes.  Rather than the heavy, opulent colours of a winter dining table look for new plates, glasses and cups and saucers in funky summer colours.

bean bags

5. Keep it child friendly

With the 6 weeks holidays fast approaching, its time to turn the living areas into child friendly spaces so they can make the most of their time off school.  Tuck away your finest crystal and add beanbags and cushions to your living room to allow them to lounge at their leisure. Clear away your paperwork from the kitchen table to make room for arts and crafts. Throw down some cheap rugs to protect carpets from grassy feet.  Throw open the back door and let them run in and out to make the most of the glorious weather.
