Step back in time with us and experience the romance of travel in bygone times while passing through picturesque countryside, beautiful forest and historic towns. You can even have a peek behind the scenes at the restoration work that their team of friendly volunteers undertake on infrastructure such as buildings, track, signals and also our rolling stock as they offer a great day out for all the family. Saturday 19th September – City Diversion Festival
The popular arts and entertainment event for children and adults returns for its thirteenth outing. Featuring a whole day of amusing and bemusing, free international street theatre shows in Chelmsford City Centre.
On Saturday 19th September, Chelmsford City Centre enjoys a great variety of shows from street bands and theatre companies from across the UK and Europe. Most of the promenade acts will pass through the High Street and also High Chelmer and Meadows Shopping Centres. Saturday 26th/Sunday 27th September – Day Out With Thomas The Tank Engine
Spend the day at Colne Valley Railway and enjoy a great day out for all the family. Ticket include large free car park, ride in Thomas’s express coaches, ride in another Thomas Character (Daisy), ride behind Mavis in the goods train (weather permitting), miniature Railway ride in Toby’s carriages, other loco’s will also be giving rides (weather permitting), imagination Station Marquee – temporary tattoos, colouring, children’s games, play trains, pictures with Sir Topham Hatt the Fat Controller, garden and Large indoor model railways, signal box visits, and other displays. Finish off in the Buffet Carriages, serving hot and cold food and refreshments (please note queues will form at lunchtime) or visit the shop with a range of Day Out With Thomas and other souvenirs. Jump back 200 million years and come face to face with Jurassic beasts at Marsh Farm this 26th-27th September. Excavate fossils in the sand, join craft workshops and follow clues on the T-Rex Trail PLUS meet and interact with real life walkabout dinosaurs!
