3. CLEAN YOUR SURFACES
Keeping your surfaces clean is generally something we all try to do as much as possible anyway, but when the cold and flu season is upon us, take extra time to wipe communal areas down. Wipe down surfaces with a clean, disposable paper towel instead of a sponge, and then throw out the towel. Pay special attention to bedside tables, bathroom counters, taps and doorhandles and kitchen work surfaces.
Also, be aware of the cleaning products you use. To use the word “sanitize” a product must kill more than 99 percent of specified bacteria within 30 seconds. The word “disinfect” means a product must kill all specified germs within 10 minutes. Both are effective in the longer term, but be aware of what you are using and where.
